First weekend in Oxford

Getting to Oxford from the Heathrow airport in London was pretty convenient. I hop on the bus from the airport and there I was right in Oxford after about an hour. At first, I found it a little bit uncomfortable to adjust to cars that are driven on the left. However, in the airport, there are some sweet signs at the cross road telling pedestrians to look right or left. My suggestion for others who are used to walk on the right side is to pay more attention while crossing the road and look at both sides.

Right now I am living in the EY language school, which is 20 minutes from city center of Oxford. Although our accommodation had some changes, I was actually really excited to live in this new location, where I got a chance to make some friends around the world. (Conversations took place easily during my time waiting for the laundry.)

There are a lot of OLD buildings around Oxford. The campus style is a lot different from the UW campus in Seattle. I can see many beautiful historical buildings along the streets. I may randomly walk into a building which has been there for hundreds of years. Even the dining halls inside the college can have a long history. In this way, Oxford attracts a lot of visitors from all over the world for a visit even though the school session will end soon.

There are so many pubs, bookstores and interesting little shops along the street that I am interested to explore during my stay here. And of course, I am very excited for tomorrow's induction for the Bodlein library to experience one of the archaic rituals in Oxford.
