Nice Presentation Party!

I enjoyed the most variety of presentations today. All were good and interesting ranging from women studies, Harry Potter, devolution, education, architecture in Oxford and so on.  I was really thankful that we had the freedom to choose our topic and to experiment with our own research method. It was an unique way of exploring the academic life in Oxford.

Yesterday, I spent my last afternoon sitting in the Bodleian library finishing up preparing for the presentations. The sun light shed through the window and it was really peaceful. Walking around, I could once again see all the readers researching, reading and interacting with books. Then, I went to the Duke Humfrey's Library--the oldest reading room in Bodleian library. It was quiet just as the first time I visited. Unfortunately, I did not have access to take a look at  those ancient books on the shelves, but they would all remain with their own mysteries.

Here are some pictures of the newly opened section of the Bodleian library called the Gladstone Link. It was a modern tunnel connecting the Old Bodleian library to the Radcliffe Camera. All the books are open shelf which readers can access easily. It is interesting to think about this modern space built hidden under the two old libraries. This is when history meets with modern styles.
